Gone but not forgotten.
On July 11, 1998 and August 5, 1998 Memorial Services commemorating
the anniversaries of the two Lewiston Police Officers
who died in the line of duty were held.
The July 11th Service marked the 10th anniversary of the death of Officer David Payne.
The August 5th Service marked the 40th anniversary of the death of Officer Paul Simard.
Below are scenes from the July 11th Service for David Payne.
The Service was held at Officer David Payne's Gravesite
at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn, Maine.
July 11, 1998 was very reminiscent of the day in 1988 when David Payne's funeral occurred.
The day was cool and damp, and light drizzle lingered in the air, ending when the service was completed. The picture to the left shows the group assembling just before the service. |
Lewiston Police Honor Guard
